Im looking to get a cold air intake for my 05 Hemi. The brands im looking at are K&N or Spectre. My question is which is better out of the 2 or is there anything better than those 2. Thanks in advance

K & N is certainly the more popular choice. That's what I use and I love it. No experience with Spectre.

Get a BFI or Vararam. All the rest aren't really going to show you the same level of gains as you would get from either of those.

Good luck finding a BFI. I think there are less than 100 total made.

Vararam would be easy to find though.

Other than the Vararam and the BFI you won't see much difference with just a cai. They all perform about the same. So I would choose which ever one you think is going to look best under your hood.

I agree with Gecko. They all do the same thing. Just a matter of preference in the end

Some do it better than others.

Open top CAIs just suck hot engine bay air (K&N, Afe, Airaid and DIY PVC etc).
Those are noise makers.

The Vararam, with actual ram effect, and the enclosed S&B, or Volant for that matter provide a better path for (comparatively) cooler air than either the stock air box with that stock flex hose, or any of the open top noise makers. :superhack:

That doesn't mean a CAI on its own is going to do a whole lot for you; its all the bolt-ons with the CAI that really makes a difference.

I have been looking into the vararam and I have one question. You cant really tell in pictures, but the flex hose looks like really cheap material. Am i wrong or is it really just cheap material.

If you want the best it would be Vararam, S&B.
