Just FYI, all 3rd Gen and above HEMI engines have 2 spark plugs per cylinder. That's why there's 16.

Not just Rams I am pretty sure all modern day Hemi's have 16 plugs. Dodge has started doing it in other engines too.

yea my 06 Durango with the 4.7 says it has the 16 plugs.

06 4.7 Durango should only have 8 plugs, my 07 has 8, 2008 is when dodge changed the 4.7 to 16 plugs and upped the hp significantly.

What is the purpose of doubling the plug number to 16?

The 2nd plug is for emissions/efficency. It is fired after the combustion to ignite the unburned fuel.
