Has anyone ever switched over to electric fans on their 5.7? Just wondering what everyones opinion is?

Lots of folks have eFans. I suspect within a few years all new cars will have eFans, most already do. My only concern is there are times my wife drives my truck and if something did happen, would she know what happened. Just have to explain what it does and what to expect from it I guess.

Theres a bunch of guys running them. You can either run the black magic fan or a ford fan.

I need to do an efan one of these days. I had one out of a taurus, but sold it (for more than double what I paid for it :)).

I'm gonna have to look into this for my 5.9. I saw them do it once on extreme 4x4.

I'm about to start saving up for this as well. Lots of guys do it. They get a fan out of a Ford car, buy a fan controller which you can find at the autoparts store and go to town.

ya i had a 3-fan mark v111 it was great loved, then got my a/c fixed so with the head lights and the blower motor on the headlights would dime and the alt would go done that due to becuase the mark v111 pulls alot of amps..... so i had to take it off so would feel better running the a/c.... and boy i really could feel the differnce,,, the efan made the truck alot easy to take off,, and passing slow cars was easyer also

i hope sum time i will have the money to upgrade to a fan that pulls less amps

Had no interest in this mod but saw an Ad and in the heat of the moment i splurged on a flex-a-lite black magic fan and controller for $130 shipped.

See how this goes in conjuction with my 20% SFI U/D.

It has been stated the combination isn't the best of set ups. I would run it and see if the battery can keep up. Let us know.
Good luck.

It's a complete package. The only thing I added was a indicator. $2 led from radio shack.

This is the one I have, I thought it was the BM-183, but it is the a BM-180. It uses a probe. I also use a Jet 180 thermostat. I have the fan adjusted to 195 degrees. The only time the fan comes on is when I'm stuck in traffic and it cycles between 190-200.

Excellent Mod (Black magic Xtreme here) with noticable gain (0-60 times) and Quicker Heat in the winter if you go 180 Thermostat. UD Pulley/Damper didn't notice as I did it same time as Cam and with good alternator so far Battery OK, but in heavy traffic (which I don't have much of) the Alt needle does show to struggle below half during those Traffic Light Idle in gear situations.
