I replaced my belt, belt tensioner, and idler pulley at 110k miles on my 03 4.7 ram. Tomorrow will be the third time I have warrantied the tensioner from napa because the spring part in the middle keeps breaking causing the tensioner to shake and make the belt squeal until it is at a high enough rpm to stretch the belt out.

Could anything else be causing my tensioner to break?

Both times the belt and tensioner have been put on by a different mechanic.

faulty part or is something else causing this?

HELP!

Probably a cheap part. What brand tensioner are they giving you? Hopefully not a gatorback. Try and get gates or dayco.

I was told it is a gates part, the warranty information I received has a gates e-mail on it.
