currently i have 3.92 stock gears and they are whirring so we(shadetree's and a pro tech) suspect the bearings are shot so i ordered a set of 4.56's by motive and a master install kit with timken bearings and they will be installed this week....hopefully i love these things and they are worth the money even though i got a smokin deal on the parts and install....

That is the next big mod for mine a snowdogg plow. 3550 installed on the truck.

Ha Ha I heat cycled my three times and let her loose. I asked the mechanic (Dodge Cert Mechanic) what the breakin was and he told me to drive it. 500 miles later actually became a little over 600 miles we opened it back up and checked it. It was spot on. The oil was a little dirty from wearing in some. But I was leaning on it at about the 150 mile mark. Mine makes less noise than the original 3:55's. You will love this setup.

Yes, if there is always a little friction generated as the gear set first runs in together. I ran about 20 miles and let it cool off a little and then 60 miles and let it set for a full cool down and then ran it another 50 miles and let it cool. I measured the temp each step and at the end it was running normal temps of about 110 - 130 degrees.
