I'm wanting to rebuild my gears and get a locker sometime in the next couple of weeks I was thinking of getting a 4.11 gear ratio, I have 2004 Ram 5.7L Hemi on 37" tires I don't want to lose top end speed, and I want the most out of towing. What would be a good choice for gears and lockers? Any help would be appreciated Thank You!

Current ratio?

Great results with yukon and motive gears. You wont that much lose top end as it only raises rpm a few hundred. Def help in moving up to speed with those meats.

Also if you are looking for a installer then i highly recommend TJ with ED1 Differential in Chandler. He did my last 3 gear changes on the truck and each one has been silent. Price was very reasonable and he is mobile so he can do the install at your home if need be.

with the 5.7 hemi you should have the 3.92 gears, going to 4.11 would be such a little difference it wouldnt be worth it. On 37" tires, by my calculations, 4.56 gears should put you within 100rpms of your stock gears on stock size tires. So 4.56 would be your best bet to help it get off the line without losing anything up top. I would say 4.88, but I dont think that ratio is available for the 9.25 and the 8" front.

I agree with 4.56s, if not 4.88s.

I've never complained about having too much gear, only too little.

Your speed shouldnt be off at all, these trucks have a tone ring on the diff carrier that the sensor reads speed from. 4.56 gears would put the pep back in its step but the housing will need some modification for them to fit. I have motive 4.56's and i love them, a slight whine at break in and its been quiet as a mouse since.

I agree with the 4.56s. I also know a few guys on 4.88s on 38s that have great low end. According to my build sheet im running 3.73s and have a little trouble getting out of my own shadow lol.

If he is 2wd 1500 then 4.88 would be an option, they will not work on a 1500 4x4 though.
