My dad has an 04 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi and a 5 speed standard trans. Lately, he hasnt had the issue as much, but sometimes when hed start it, it would crank over like normal but then die. So you would have to turn the key off then back on and it would fire right up. Its kind of a hard thing to describe lol but I was just curious as to what could be causing this and if anyone else has had this problem.

I kinda have the problem. When i first start it when its hot out i have to give it a little rev. Only when its hot. When i dont as soon as i stop itll stall on me. Never stalls when moving or as soon as i crank it. Never stalls when i give it a rev though.

Do you have any background on the truck like last TB cleaning? Thats the first and easiest thing to check, also these trucks will do funny things if the batterys on its way out.

I'd say clean the Throttle Body. Might fix it, might not. But still a good maintenance item.

Actually, he did have the battery replaced when it was at the dealer toward the beginning of the year..It actually hasnt really done it much in a while so maybe thats what it was. I cant really tell you the last time it did it since then..

The computers in these trucks are the most demanding things and any drop or change in power cause them to act like a 2 year old on alot of sugar.

Bouncing of the walls, and climbing to the rafters. I have a lot of experience with 2 year olds and too much sugar.
