Hi All,

Thinking of buying a 2004 1500 Ram Hemi with 172000 miles on it. Seems like it has been well maintained with oil changes, plugs and coils but still hasn't seen any major issues with the tranny or engine. Previous owner replaced the crank shaft sensor less than a year ago and is asking $6500. Is this worth entertaining?

I have an 04 Ram 4wd hemi. Seems like a good to me. I would offer $6000. Do a test drive if possible. Go over the truck as best you can

Do you know a mechanic who can go over it ? Compression check etc! Frame rust also will it be for just around town or long distance? Your only way to work ? 2 wheel drive ? Regular Cab ?

1,000,000 miles is too many! the truck you're looking at does not sound too bad. I sold my 2004 RAM with 160k on it in 2012 for 5k. It was a 4.7 base model. Just look everything over!

Primarily it will be for commuting to National Guard drill one weekend a month (250 miles round trip) but the occasional short trip to the store. It will not be my primary vehicle.

I say if you go through the truck or have a mechanic go through and you get warm fuzzies, go for it

193,000 miles on my 2004 5.7 hemi truck. Still on the original engine (NO motor work done), trans and rear end. Never had any major work done other than replacing a leaking radiator. Still chirps the tires in 2nd and puts a grin on my face when I mash the pedal.
