OK looking for some help I'm dying here.
2003 1500 4.7
Put on rebuilt transmission
Month later starts shutting off. It shuts off like I turned the key off. All electrical stays on. Gauges freeze then a few seconds drop. I turn the key back to off then restart and it will start fine but still will stall but not every time. It will stall at idle, slowly accelerating, and if I punch the gas to say pass if it hits 4000 rpm it will squeal and shut off. It sometimes will shut off when slowly accelerating up a hill. Sometimes it will idle 15 min othertimes less than 1. Here is what I have done so far:

Replaces tps
Replaced iac
Replaced camshaft sensor
Replaced crankshaft sensor
Replaced map sensor
Replaced pcv
Replaced air filter
Checked transmission fluid
Checked battery
Checked fuel
Replaced ignition sensor
Checked fuel vapor canister
Newer alternator
Fuel pump seems to be working

Aamco said its code 83 wrong vin on pcm
I don't know how that could be

Any help thanks so much

If it were a 2.2L Mopar I'd be guessing hall effect pickup (would be part of the distributor but I don't think RAM's have hall effect pickups). Not sure of the electronics on a 4.7L. Just throwing this out: speed sensor, Automatic Shut Down relay? I'm not too up to date on all the electronics so those are just ideas. Haynes manual does not show a code 83. Are there any other codes or is that the only one Aamco gave you? Any dash lights on like the check engine light?

Sorry no check engine light or other warning lights. I have an obd scanner and there are no codes. That was just the code aamco gave me but I don't trust them.

Not sure if this will help but in my 02 5.9 the tcm is integrated with the pcm you may need to replace you pcm or have it flashed and reprogrammed did you put the same kind of tranny back in ?

I would pull the box where all the fuses are and look for rotted or corroded connections.

If you have done any gauge or audio mods you might be pinching a wire somewhere.

The ignition switch itself could be faulty.

At this point there are dozens of things that could be wrong but don't beat yourself up too bad even the best of mechanics have a hard time diagnosing intermittent problems like you are having. Easier to fix something that is totally dead than one that pops up every once in a while I feel your pain.
