I love my KN cai. However I would never pay $350 for any intake brand new. I found mine for $80 on CL. Try to find one used and you will save yourself a ton of $$$

you can go to home depot and buy some ******* tube and a can of spray paint and make one. then grab a spectre or k&n filter and you are set. itll cost you less than $100 and perform the same as most other $300+ intakes out there.

personally though, i just run the stock airbox with a k&n filter, and an airraid tube that deletes the "hemi hat" tube was like $50 and i feel it is sufficient for my needs.

alright, you pretty much answer my question....i jus wanted to know if its neccesary to spend 300+ dollars on cai.

Yep they have proved that k&n and other big names vs ebay or no name vs diy and they are all very similar...But dont expect any huge gains. More noise and exhaust note changes

Ever since I got my ultra-gauge I have been convinced to never spend money on a fancy intake, while cruising the Intake Air Temp is about 2-3 degrees above the ambient air temp, so unless an intake is getting more air into the motor, which I doubt anything out there short of a turbo or S/C is doing, it aint helping much, maybe a little, not much.

the only thing i suggest about those is to make sure it has a good filter on it. if need be, buy a spectre or k&n and slap in on there.

wow ive never seen something like that before. looks pretty cool...performance wise?

I cannot compare to other intakes, I went from stock to the VR. JJ can comment on that, he had a few different ones.

Here are my thoughts:

Not much difference from a standing start, but once moving it has much better throttle response.

Performance wise, it pulls a lot harder from 40mph and up.

Biggest surprise, it is not loud like other CAIs. It is a little louder when you get on it in the 40+ mph range.

I had 3 CAIs on my 08.

Airraid - made a lot of noise........thats about it.
BFI - :flipthebird: sorry.......I sold them for a while. Performance was great, but the ....... nevermind. Company sucked.
Vararam - the BIGGEST competitor to the BFI, so......what better way to spite the old boss than to buy the competitor. And it looks f'n awesome. Performance was awesome, especially after 36.7 mph. All the air getting shoveled into it - VERY nice!

Now, they aren't cheap! The Vararam will set you back 300 bucks.

An intake, is an intake. Like stated above...you're not gonna see any huge gains from an intake alone. Combine an intake with exhaust, headers, a programmer, and a 180 thermostat, you'll see a bigger difference.

In short, go with what you can afford, and what looks good to you.

John, I always considered that to be a excellent setup. I'm a little surprise more folks don't do it that way.
