After hearing all the stuff on the net, and my own personal experiences with the 4.7, I was just curious about peoples problems with the 4.7 and how many miles you have on it and what you've had to do to it.
i have the standard random oil pressure drop at idle (doesn't do it as much since i flushed the engine but still there)
and major head gasket problems and the mysterious vanishing coolant (which is the head gaskets leaking)
all started around 100,000 miles

I've only got 67.5k miles on mine but the only problems I have had is the water pump went out right around 50k.

WOW i must have really got my hands on a lemon.
on top of the problems above i also have rust forming on the rear quarter in the wheel well
and the dash has decided to crack like crazy this summer. there are about 15 cracks in it some are huge and come all the way to the back of dash and roll down over the face of the dash. beginning of summer there were only one or two small ones in the defrost vent.

Damn sounds like you might have gotten a friday afternoon truck. Time to clean it up enough and unload it at a carmax and get a newer ram maybe.

Hey now that looks like a dodge lol. I got the same thing man. It's a dodge trait. Cracked dash, rusty doors and fenders. I would say but it still runs but ummm your friday made motor kinda shoots that Idea in the foot.

i've been wanting to do some things to it. wheels, small lift, brush guard, tail lights, get the windows retinted, all i've done so far is get the harley chrome handles, and the step. the engine keeps eating the budget. as far as the rust goes i had been thinking about cutting it out and painting up the area good and putting a set of flares on it. but right now its back into "yard ornament" mode. all it needs is a lawn jockey behind the wheel.

that's what i have in mind just tryin to find more info on which to go with and what i will need to do this. i'll have to change the head gaskets again in the mean time while i figure out what i'm gonna do. that should buy me about 4,000 to 8,000 miles again. but hell i've done the gaskets enought it only takes me about 8 hours to do it now.... i'm not sure if havin that much experience is a good thing or a bad one.... lol

Well the knowlege never hurts lol. Tips and tricks are great. Still mind boggling how it can go through gaskets that fast. The HEMI was available in 02 right??? For some reason I'm thinking it didn't come out till 03??? Looks like you have a very early on 02.

Hemi's came out early 03, and revised for 04 and up. 03's are the first set then 04's then they changed the TB and a few other things in 05, 06-08 I believe are the same with minor movements but cant say for 100% sure.

Yea I was just gonna say I think 02 had only the 5.9. If you can get a good one kinda like mine you will have a great motor.

kbb.com says it came with either the 4.7 or 5.9 in 2002 so i'd say going with a 5.9 would be alot easier than trying to go to the 5.7.

Yea no doubt. Same outer styling as a 3rd gen but has all the guts of a 2nd gen I'd imagine. Let me know how much 5.9's are goin for I'm gonna be lookin to replace or rebuild mine next year.
