i just swaped a 2008 5.7 hemi onto my 1999 chassis , bolt on / plug & play .

it was originaly on a 1999 , with a old challenger trans. 2wd .

i wanted it 4wd , so i put it in my 1999 , on the original trans . i have the right computer for the 2008 engine . but it has Holley carb onto it , can it work with this transmission , as the theres no where to plug the TCM sensor from the original trans. to the carburator where it used to be a throttle body for the injection .

im a rookie at dodge , if i dont make sens let me know .

i need help!

Welcome to the site.
Let me make sure I have this correct.
You took a 5.7L Hemi engine and transmission out of a Challenger and stuck it in your 99 Dodge Ram. Wouldn't the throttle body stay the same as the engine you put in? Like the hemi has its own throttle body, and the 5.9 has its own throttle body, and since you used the hemi engine thats the throttle body you should use. The 5.9 trans will not mount up to the hemi engine. I would like to see some pics of this swap

Thinking the Trans will need a stand alone unit and the intake will have to be swapped to a cable mounted TB where as all the hemis are op by elec. Can you give us more details?

thanks guys !

yea , i have a 1999 ram , i just installed the 2008 5.7 hemi in it . it bolted on the tranny with no problems . on the hemi i have it converted from injection to holley carburated .

my problem is , how can i manage the tranny to respond to the carburator , since the positioning sensor of the 99 4.7 is on injection throttle body . ?? my friend mechanic , is mounting a moded braket so that the sensor adapts to the movement of the carb . if that makes any senses !

i am told , that the 99 transmission , is electronic , and if i want it to shift / downshift or even keep the engine running at iddle .. then this mod is needed ! ?? makes sens??

ill put on some pics , ASAP !

my mechanic , is wondering keeping the ECU from the 99 engine , just to control the transmission , would that work ? the computer would only be reading the tranny . nothing else . ??

So your 99 had a 4.7L? that had to be a conversion has well as they came with a 5.2 and the 5.9 for V8s. The 2000 Dakotas were the first with the 4.7l for trucks.

It could be stock, production years and model years dont necessarily follow a physcal year. So it could have been bought late 99' but really been the 00' model year.

For the OP - I have seen a few shows where they have taken a modern vehicle and dropped a carb'd engine in and what you are describing as the part to plug the TCM sensor in for the TB (well in this case carb) sounds right. I think they just did it on HorsePower TV a couple weeks ago and that was all they had to use to get it to run with one another.
