I am picking up my truck this week. Its a 2004 ram 2500 Hemi Quad cab. I already planned on getting my flowmaster super 40 for it.
I need help with the specs to get though. Its going to be a single in single out. I am just not sure on the size and offset can you guys help me out?

Is it 2.50 in and out? I really dont have a clue with the offset. I know many people have flowmaster mufflers so I figured you guys would be able to share with what you have.
And The mufflers have to be welded in correct?

I got 3" in and out, and then professionally tig welded in. It does need at least 18 inches of specially bent pipe in order to make up for the room left by the gigantic muffler, but the shot I got it done at gave it to me for free.

I just installed a Flowmaster 40 series today. It was 2.50 in and out. But we stretched it to 3.00 so it would fit the factory pipe. Offset was center in and offset out because it was what I had on hand. Just mig weld it in, you will need some extra pipe as well since the factory muffler is way longer than the Flowmaster. And some steel rod to make the hangers.

FWIW a shop will do this job for like $150 or so. I am now debating on taking the small resonator out as well to see if it will make it louder.

If that's so then I'm pretty sure I have after market cats then, I wouldn't know though, I bought it with all this stuff on it, except the muffler.

I should have asked this also but where can I get extra pipe? I think I would save some money getting everything myself and then have the shop install it

I think $150 is well worth having the shop do it, Lot less hassle. The pipe can be had at Autozone or any parts store I guess. Some muffler shops wont install customers parts.

If the shop is gonna install the muffler I would let them use their pipe and bender unless your buying a full cat back system that you can just bolt into your Y. I have found if you talk to the guys at the shop and get a feel for them they wont rip you off. My new exhaust guys are car nuts and love when I drop off my truck for a tweak or change. I hate leaving it anywhere but after 5 mins of talking to the shop owner and the 2 guys that would be driving it or working on it they knew where I was coming from and what I expected.

Yea Ill have to do that. I didnt think I needed it welded I thought all i needed to do was take off the stock muffler and put the new one on and then clamp it on. Thats a lot more work than I though and a lot more expensive at that

Some will slip clamp but can leak depending on the fit. Being an 04 you might have to fight the exhaust alill to come apart where as cutting and welding is quicker.

Spending Money on good exhaust is worth it, even when it takes 3 trys like me in 5 years. My last Muffler and Tails Bill was $800 but that included a set of long double walled tips at 125 each. Nice and quiet at Idle and Hot Rod when you Hammer it. I am Planning a couple flowmasters, crossover and Resonators for my MDS Hemi Wagon in the spring. x 2 on what KGBig says.

like Kg says, find that one good shop... i found mine years ago and he's done mine a few time because i wanted a custom setup...here is what mine is now.. 3" piping from the header collectors thru gutted cats, true duals to muffler with an H where the Y would have been, 22" magnaflow muffler dual 3" in/single 3" out, he supplied everything, i only supplied the cutouts.. $250 out the door..

I put a Flowmaster 40 series 3" in 3" out (supposedly one of their loudest mufflers) on my 2004 with the stock tailpipe/resonator and welded it.. personally I was a little disappointed because of how quiet it is. I still have all of the catalytic converters and the resonator, maybe that's it. I really only like the sound of it when i get on it.
