Hi all. I'm new to this forum and planning out my first performance build and had a few questions. Any advice would be appreciated. I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L 360 that has 230478 miles on it. I'm the original owner of this truck and love it. I'm wanting to completely redo the whole truck from the engine tires wheels interior and all completelyccustomize. My first question is this. With the motor having that many miles on it would it be advisable to rebuild using this block or should I buy a whole new one. I'm thinking it would be ok just have to bore it out but I'mnot sure on what ssizebboring Ishould do or piston size either. Also wwhere is the best place to get performance parts for dodge trucks. Again any advice will be appreciated

As long as the block is ok then it will be more than fine to use it. Once you remove it take it to a mechanic to have them check it over.

Even though it has high milage it still has great power. I have taken very good care of it. Where is the best place to get performance parts for dodge at a reasonable price.

Currently rebuilding the 5.7 in my 2006 Ram. I ordered my parts from Inertia Motorsports (referred by another member) and Stu was very helpful with recommendations. Also plenty of great vendors on this site.

On an engine of that generation buy parts from mopar specialist is a lil high IMO. With a base 360 build cams heads cranks will be just as good and cheaper coming from summit or jegs as he doesn't have to deal with the newness us hemi guys do. Find you a good friend that understands what you need an want it to do to help look for parts. Then go on an build you a bad ride bud. Btw welcome to the forum.

What would be a good bore for it. I want speed and power on the street but I will still be Yowing with it as well. Older Chevy's I'm pretty good with. This is the first dodge I'll ever messed with like this. Also where can I find a computer for it since I'm going to convert from auto to manual.

I know yours is a 360 but if you want to check out my thread the guys just gave me an excellent tutorial on adding HP and torque in a rebuild. Welcome to RF!
