- Hemi 5.7 - Hedman Shorties - K&N CAI
I've searched, and searched and sea....anyway, I have found nothing on this, on forums like these or Google.
I have an '03 Hemi, with all stock exhaust except for a pair of Hedman shorties. I plan to eventually add in a cold-air intake as well, probably next fall.
On to my question: I am looking into updating my exhaust to a si/do. I'm not looking for brand nominations, or that I should just go for true dual, or anything like that. I have a tight budget to begin with, so I can't do a lot. Probably a muffler-back, and eventually have a new y-pipe installed.
All I want to know is what diameter pipes would be best in this setup. As far as I've seen (and I would confirm on my own truck before purchasing) the exhaust on these are 3". I want to hear what others have to say on the outlet size on a si/do exhaust. Are 2.5 or 2.25 pipes better for the engine? I've seen people run both, but does anyone have any experience with either? I will be going with a Flowmaster Super 44, with mandrel bent pipes, dual out the back no matter what the dimensions. Please do not rip on this. We love the sound, and that is that. What outlet pipes are the best diameter for my current/future setup?
I don't want to spend what little coin I have to spare on a setup that will potentially rob me of power (aside from the Flowmaster naysayers responses). I want to feel relatively secure in my decision.
