Today my truck popped a P1404 code. When I pulled the code it said it was the Exhaust Gas Recirculation System (EGR). Any suggestions on where I should go from here? Replace the valve? Just take it off and clean it?

I'm not sure about maintenance, if you have a diablo tuner I believe hemifever can disable it. They make block off kits for it.

A new EGR is about $30-40. It's a very simple replacement. It takes about 2 min to take all the screws off of your EGR and then another 2 min to bolt the new one back up. A new EGR valve should come with a new gasket too. I'd say just replace is and keep going. Or you can drive around with the code up. It really wont effect anything on the truck. You may end up with slight mpg drop but I'm talking like point whatever of a mpg. It's really nothing to worry about.
