I have an 04 ram 1500 (4WD) Hemi... I couple of weeks ago I noticed that the power steering start to make noise whenever the engine rpm increased. Not so much at idle, but when ever the rpm increased, it sounded like the pump was low on fluid. It was not low and has never been low FYI. I checked the high pressure hose with a stethascope and determined that this was the noise I was hearing. Turning the wheel has NO affect on the noise at all. I removed the belt and started the engine and the grinding sound was gone. I just replaced the pump, but it had no effect on the grinding sound... The steering works perfect (both before and after the pump R&R)..
