question about muffler

ok so I just bought a 05 ram 1500 slt with a 4.7 and I am thinking about getting a magnaflow muffler 14 inch. its a single pipe. any thoughts on if I should go with the 14 inch or the 18 inch for this vehicle?

Depends on how loud you like, I am going to go with the 18" magnaflow. I did some research online and you can hear the sounds for your engine size

see the guy at the speed shop told me the 18 inch is designed more for the hemi dual exhaust system and that with the 4.7 the 14 inch would sound about the same as the 18 inch. I told him I am not looking for anything too aggressive. just want a little growl on start up and acceleration.

"little growl" would then point towards the 18" length.

if I remember correctly I had a 50 series delta on my Dakota, ran under the bumper, 70mph was allot of drone.

I don't know what kind of shops that you have in your area, but I had a local shop here in my hometown look under the truck and ran me true duals on my 4.7l for $400. Mine is pretty damn loud and they used 18" mufflers on both pipes. Just a heads up that you can probably get exactly what you want out of it, just let them know exactly what you want.
