So has anyone priced out the bottom end of these engines? Dropping the stock 5.7 crank for a 6.1 (I hear that will work as they are basically the same size, the 6.1 is just a bit beefer) and a new set of pistons?

No not boring out the block or buying a new block, just the internal components.

I believe the 6.1 will have to be machined and what not... a crank is a grand by itself. Truck is back together but not done so im just gonna let it sit for a few till we get time to spend on it again.

Sorry to say I didnt. My wife was sopposed to roll down to take pics everyonce in awhile but she got ******* doing stuff at the house and messing with her horses. The timing is off we think so wends night were popping the front cover off and checking it again. All in all we were rolling so fast on this that im supried we had it all back togther in less then a day and a half, prob 10 working hours. The cylinder was spotless but still ran the hone and the head was fine. The only markings made was where the exhaust valve was tapped a few times before the aluminum cleared the head. I will take a pic of the piston and post it thurs I hope just depends on if were getting the race trucks ready for friday or do em sooner.

Yeh, I know once you get rollin... I got some latest pics still on my new phone but need to figure how to transfer em over and do a photobucket. My oldest Daughter supposed to help me there.

Timing out ...MMM.. anything to do with the fact you removed the old sprocket that goes with the 117 LSA Cam? Race Trucks, should I ask!

Race trucks are my buddies I help him with... One is strictly sand, the other does everything. The sand truck is a GM small block pushing 700 at the wheels,, its a freak of nature and clean as a pin. His diesel is an 03 Duramax thats a true sleeper. When I messed my truck up it was playing in the sand but ran good times so oh well. The timing is something that just happened to us I hope and nothing else is wrong. We will see tomorrow, I will start a new thread thurs prob if all goes well.
