I see there's alot of header threads so why not one more. I planning on purchasing some pacesetters soon along with there ory but for the time being can't really swing the extra cost to have them coated. Is it bad to run them uncoated? I've been told to let the paint an stuff burn off then can sand them an use a real high degree paint.

Ps I'm using my phone an the auto correct messed up my title It should say un instead of I :)

Got the heading for ya. As far as coated or uncoated, I believe it's just about keeping the heat down and extending the life of the header a little more. I had pacesetter LT's on my 05 and they were coated, but I don't think it would have mattered all that much if they weren't coated.

if you live in an area with lots of rain, snow, salt on the roads etc. you will want the coated ones so they don't rust. Be a shame to spend that much on headers and that much time getting them installed and fitted only to have to replace them a year or two out. Why not wait a little longer and just save the cash for the coated ones?

I live in Florida so no snow. Work across the street from the beach but the truck never goes on it regardless on beachside sand gets everywhere, temps did worry me tho being uncoated.

salty air, salty rain, and sand, I'd just hold off until you can get the coated ones. or get the UN coated ones and see if you can send them off to jethot if they are still around and see what cozying them there will run, last I checked a few years back it was $100-$150 to coat the pair.

I have read mixed reviews in these also. I heard good and bad about ceramic so idk what to get. I am ordering headers toinight and still not sure if I should spend the extra
$120 on ceramic or get the uncoated and put something on there myself

if you buy the uncoated you can strip the shipping paint with aircraft paint remover. it works great and its available at your local auto parts store. thats what i did. followed that with vht high temp exhaust/header paint. I installed them on the truck and started it as soon as they started to smoke shut it off and blew compressed air on them. did that 2 or 3 times. then let it idle for about 20min shut off and cooled. Then took it out and drove it hard for 30min. Paint has held up great no peeling or bubbles.

Im a fan of the coated like I have on my truck. Local shops around here are over $300 to do a coating on them. Cheaper to buy them coated and ready to go.

We have side pipe longtube headers on the 70 corvette stingray... They are uncoated (well... chromed... But you can be the judge if that means coated or uncoated... Not to sure) and we have had the for more than 10 years... I live in south Florida and we used to cruise down the beach all the time... No problem with them for all the years we have had them...

Don't let people scare you off from the uncoated headers. I have been driving for three or four years through salt on the roads and sand at the beach along with the salty air and they look fine still. They will probably outlast the truck.

Spring for the coated, the Hookers on my Road Runner started rusting out on me after like 6 months. They make a coated Y pipe to with the long tubes, this is the setup I intend to get.
