These trucks are not bad for your average daily drivers and even some enthusiasts. But what if you want a little bit of snap in your drive? I have read on this forum about adding cold air intakes throttle devices Etc can anybody say that these things really help? Or is there something else you did to yours that made an improvement I'd like to hear about them, before I go spend a lot of money on stuff that just looks good. So let's talk about it here whatever you thought made a noticeable improvement.

Cold air intake. Tuners. Gears (such as 4.56). Headers. Those are the most affordable and will make this biggest difference right off the bat.

Pedal Commander. Check it out.

Yes, in my experience on quite a few vehicles I've found that a cold air intake can improve throttle response.

The biggest bang for the buck, overall, to improve performance is a programmer and a custom tune.

In 1985 trucks were sluggish, these things nowadays are rocket ships with close to 400hp.

ive read that the pedal commander takes care of this issue real quick, also check out the diablo I2 intune with hemifever I rememeber reading that in increases throttle response and adds horsepower and torque. i think i know what your talking about when you say sluggish, do you mean when you put your foot to the floorboard it takes about 1.5 seconds for the truck to start hauling ass instead of that exact second that you put your foot down?

Define sluggish. Are you trying to compare this to a performance oriented car or do you have a 3.6 or 4.7 truck?

my 3.6 moves.. ovbviously not like the HEMI , but she gets up there fairly quickly, especially with the pedal commander

Mines not sluggish either, but I turned off the torque management systems years ago and it'll bark 2nd at WOT, I agree 4.56 gears, headers and a tuner makes a huge difference. Now I need to get them at some point.

Ive never thought any of my rams were sluggish except for the 3.7, that one left me wanting much more, all of my hemi trucks have always been very peppy, now my 3/4 ton isnt as peppy of a hemi but it will pull a house off its foundation, my 03 hemi has no trouble laying black marks or showing up other trucks when it comes to power...

my 3.6 in my 2013 has been a great motor, quite peppy IMO...

only lag i have seen is the drive by wire system that will make the truck seem to fall on its face from time to time but the pedal commander will fix that
