Had the SC tune on 87 with 87 oct ... was getting 9 mpg city
switched to 91 tune with 93 oct and now getting 11 mpg city ?

Wonder if its running cleaner with the higher octane and using less gas to get moving ? I dunno but i like it .

I dont care if my truck got 4 mpg's or 23 mpg's i love it

You reset that thing yet?? Start with a reset.then stroll down the highway and then go back using rural routes. You should be around 14 or 15. I set mine did a 0-60 and then went back rural routes I was right at 18 mpg. 89 octane and a mileage xs tune, with slightly higher shiftpoints then stock, also ran a 5900 rev limiter setting. The 0-60 was 8.21, I took it easy. no wheel sppin. just gradually floored it after loading the tc with 2500 rpm's.in 4 hi btw.

Regardless of tunes or not I have personally found that running a higher octane gave better mileage. Whether it was worth it or not (cost vs more mileage) was inconstant.

with a better tune your engine runs more efficient. meaning its getting more power out of the gas that is being used. unlike CTD tunes where they just dump more fuel into the motor, (yes guys i know the tunes do more than that but thats the main part).

the timing is more advanced for the higher ictane creating a better spark timing meaning more power. now if you have a powerwire then it will actually dump more fuel into it also and thus still creating more power from the increase in fuel.

i get 17 mpg on the highway now with my new engine and tuned to 91/ running 93 and trans custom tuned. im pretty stoked about that.

Yeah I have no Idea why my Diablo has an 87 tune (been using it with 89 gas), but I'm gonna try the 91 with 93 gas see if it helps me. Every combo Ive tried before i get 15mpg every time.

Little higher timing and 91/93 octane will let it run smoother and accelerate the same with less throttle. I generally tell folks the performance tune will give better mpg but usually just enough gain to negate the price difference in the fueling.

Try the 91/93 and see how it goes. My mpg was bumped up almost 1mpg just with the switch.

Can anyone tell me why these companies dont bother with an 89 tune? I get the 91 93 87 ones, but why leave out the 89, is it because nobody would want it?

Oh and Truckin, I gotta question. I ran logging on my spark retard when you were talking about all that jazz and issue you were having, and the Predators screen stayed at 0 degrees the whole time, if there was any knock, does the predator screen change or do you have to plug it into a comp? Just wanna know for my next tank of gas when i switch tunes and run it again.

Scott (SC) answered that somewhere the other day. Basically, the tuner doesn't have the room for another tune. :D
