Recently my truck has died twice at a low speed or at idle. Spring (Ms.MagnumSLT) was havin the same problem in her truck. She said that she cleaned her throttle body and replaced the TPS and it's fixed. She has an 05 w/ a 4.7 whereas I have an 04 w/ the 5.7 hemi. I stumbled across an old thread when I did a search where OklaHemi was throwin a code and it was a discussion about the Throttle Position Sensor.

Everyone was saying that on the 04 hemi's, you had to replace the entire throttle body because it's all one piece.... Is this correct???

I know I had to replace my whole TB when I did mine so I urgraded to a ported one for the same cost as an OEM one. Mine was acting like it was on crack, would shut the truck off, flash the lighting bolt, read out over 150% throttle travel.

Right, mine just died out of nowhere and I hate the feelin when you never know when it's gonna die on you. Plus, it's embarassing lol. So I guess I'm pretty much screwed on that part, but it's a good reason to do an upgrade. What mm is good to get and where'd you get yours from? Fastman?

im pretty sure you can just replace the sensor, try autoparts warehouse or a site like that, they shouldnt be more than 30 bucks. But if you want to upgrade the whole throttle body, might as well.

What about this one?

3rd Strike Performance Bored Throttle Body 03-04 5.7L Hemi [3rd Strike Perf Throttle Body] - $269.95 : 3rd Strike Performance!!, Mopar, GM and Ford Performance Parts-Aftermarket Accessories!!

I was wantin to just take mine to get it bored anyways but hell, might as well just get a whole new one if I can't replace just the sensor. Summitracing says that it doesn't exist for my truck.

Here is the thread I found where everyone was sayin you cant replace it for an 04... i wish someone who knows would chime in :banghead:

Mine came from Fastman but Duanes price is great on it I would go with his. The specs on it also look good.

Look at it as a saftey standpoint, atleast thats what I did. Mine cut off while taking a interstate exit once... I didnt drive the truck after that except 2 miles from my house to hook up to my bro-inlaws scanner to run #s on the TB operation then parked it till my new ported one showed up.

Nope not hard to install at all. Pull the intake of whatever kind you got, pull out the 4 bolts and unhook the electrical. Just a heads up the 05 TB is a diff connecter then the 03-04 ones for anyone looking to order later on for their own truck.
