I plan on buying a new tranny for my 2006 RAM 1500, because mine is about to **** the bed, which transmission would you prefer for a stock 5.7 hemi? Automatic.

You don't really have much choice (545RFE), unless you go stand alone. Do you mean what aftermarket built one to use? Seems the best route is to find a low mileage junkyard take out and have it ready to go in.

You can spend 3k on a shardon trans. Me personally I would get a junkyard one.

What's the average cost for removal and install for the 545RFE in a 2009 4WD 1500?

Or is the tranny swap something a first time ram owner could attempt over a weekend?
