Have an 05 2500 with a cummins and in second gear the transmission acts like its slipping but all the other gears are fine. The oil looked good when changed and filter looked good to. But the problem is it just doesn't seem like the trannys bad any ideas what could be going on? Had a guy say it could be a solenoid on top of the tranny or a speed cable for the tranny

Describe what it's doing - what exactly do you mean?

When it shifts into 2nd if you don't throttle it very lightly it starts to slip. But it doesn't seem like it's the tranny that's slipping it feels like something else

It could be a valve body/solenoid issue, A gear band issue or TCM issue.

Is it a 4x4 or RWD?

In any cases, I would get it to a Tranny shop ASAP. If there is damage in any of the areas mentionned above and you don't get it fixed real quick, it can damage the remaining good parts and make the repair far more costly that it should in the first place.

4x4 ok yea we've been wanting to get it pulled in the shop and take a look at but haven't gotten to it yet. We own a trucking company and do about 95% of repairs ourselves
