Hello everyone, Im new here but have a problem with my truck.

So heres the scenario. Mods please dont move to SC thread

Truck recent Mobile 1 in engine, Royal purple in both diff's, drop in K&N filter, Stock cats to a 3" straight pipe to stock resonator. 2" Blocks in the rear with 2" level in front. It has IFS and is 4x4. 3.55 gears. 285/65/18 tires. running 91 octane. These are my current stock times.
0-40 ----- 5.81
0-50 -----8.01
0-60 -----10.97
These seem to be really slow. These are my times with the SC on 91 octane tune, with transmission adjusted.
0-40 ----- 4.81
0-50 ----- 6.61
0-60 ----- 8.91
Things that I have checked/done
Cleaned throttle body
I've check the rear tires for brake drag, it was fine. Truck has 52k on it. Transmission fluid looks good. I just got it 2k ago, I dont know if/when the last time the spark plugs were changed. I pulled one and it looked alright to me. I also dont have any CEL or codes

That actually looks about right, what's your question?

The things that are killing your times are:
- you have a 4x4, they are quite a bit heavier than 2wds, is it a quadcab or regcab?
- 3.55 gears are great for somethings but not for going fast in a 5500lb truck
- tires are another biggie, larger tires made with a soft compound will either take more muscle to move or will spin easier
- drop in filter is the same as the stock filter, you are just able to reuse it, don't expect a lot of performance out of it, or out of any cai until you do some more engine work.

Again your times are about what they should be with the things you have in your truck

I wouldn't be upset with those times.

I agree with truckin.

In my QC 2wd that I put smaller tires on, a vararam intake, diablo sport tuner, LT headers with hi flo cats and 93 oct gas I have around a 7 second 0-60. it's a big truck.

I bet that sounds AWESOME doing 7 second runs. I know I love the sound mine makes just getting on the highway.

lol well, these are totally different responses then I've been getting from other forums...

Yeah I was really happy about the 2 second difference. Yes it is a quad cab. The tires are a little wider then stock but sit at 31.5" tall.

I guess Ill be getting a cai soon. And prolly upgrade gears, I do do some pulling. Maybe 390s or 4.10s? Any idea on how much gears cost?

Future mods are, CAI, LT Headers and probably a magnaflow split out the back.

3.55s are killing you. Are you 4x4 or 2wd? your 0-60 time may be a little on the slow but not unreasonable.

Do you have any other mods other than SC, and drop in filter?

Yea a 4x4, just a muffler delete with a 3" straight pipe to stock resonator. Other than that, all stock. Im thinking, and hoping new spark plugs will help.

Id go with the 4.56 gears. Not sure how much it'll cost on 4x4. I'm guessing close to 2k.

Really? What other sites are you on that they are saying your times are really slow? Its a quadcab 4x4, that's a BIG HEAVY TRUCK! Gears are going to run you a bit since you have to do both front and rear, for just the rear, mine ran around $900. Again, don't expect a cai to massive things to your time or mpg or hp/tq, its a supporting mod so the more you have done the better it will make things perform.

Spark plugs definitely will not hurt. Go with the cheap champion plugs, the hemi doesn't like the more expensive plugs. Plus you have 16 to change. A CAI will help. Exhaust you are being restricted by the stock manifolds and stock Y pipe. But the 3.55 gears are killing you.

dorum and raz. I guess mainly rf said there is something wrong with my truck, due to the slow stock times. They were saying that they were getting quicker times with a 4.7.

You think its possible to get in low 7s with headers and cai? Other than a cam and gears is there anything else?

Cam, gears, headers, ported throttle body, tune, cai, torque converter..... there are plenty of things that will help drop your times. Best thing at this point will be gears though in my opinion those will really help get you moving and up to speed and add a decent mpg boost at the sometime.

I thought the 3.55 were the best for mpg and 4.56s would cause a decrease?

Your muffler delete is also causing issues . You loose low end and have no back pressure causing slower launches .

Also try launching in 4wd . That will help .

But as far as your numbers you are in the ballpark for your truck and mods .
