I have a 5.7 hemi in my 2007 dodge ram 2500 slt mega cab and my buddy gave me his 5.7 hemi out of his 2008 big horn because the oil pump went out and he messed up the barrings. It's not a hard fix but I want to build it and put it in my truck but it has the thing where it shuts of the cylinders and my truck does not. I wanted to know how to take that away i know i have to change intakes and plug stuff off, i'm just afraid to do all the work to the engine spend the time putting it in then it not run right because of that. So is it possible to take it away and be like it was never their?

I believe you have to change the lifters, idk if the cam has to be changed to or not. Also the 1500s had MDS as the 2500s do not

Since you're building it anyway, mine as well upgrade cams/heads/lifters/rockers and have yourself a stout 5.7
