2013 ram 1500 8.4an.

Hello everyone!! I have a 2013 RAM 1500 with a 4.7 liter engine. I am in the process of upgrading my radio from a 5.0 to a 8.4AN and i know it needs a update. but everytime i go to Uconnects website and put in my vin it only brings up the updates for the 5.0. is there any way i could set it for the 8.4? i really need to update. thanks for the help!!!

You need a VIN from a truck that came factory with the 8.4. You also need to make sure the year of that truck matches the year of the truck the 8.4 radio came out of. I.E. if the 8.4 came out of a 2015 you need to find the VIN for a 2015 truck that came factory with the 8.4.

An alternative option is to check out the 5.0 to 8.4 upgrade thread in the DIY section. I think some of the update files are available there in the first few posts.

I have a thread just for the 8.4an usa radio fw with links. You will need to have the year and PN off the back of the radio or use the engineering menu to get it.

Yeah i got the update thing today by putting in the old vin in the uconnect update thing and it worked.

I’m aware this thread is 2 years old, but i’ll post a 2 year update, if anyone is interested. Radio was installed 8/12/17, and hasn’t had any issues since but because it’s a radio from Canada, no cell signal/apps (sadly). I think updates stopped getting pushed to 2013 Uconnect 8.4s, as mine hasn’t got any and the Uconnect update website just shows it being fully up to date.
