2018 2500 Uconnect With No Nav

There’s 2 types of Panasonic 8.4 radios in the 2018 trucks. The UAS and the UAQ. The UAS radios do not have nav whereas the UAQs do. Both will have CarPlay and Android Auto. If you look at your window sticker, I doubt NAV will be listed. It will probably say something like you have a 4C radio, but not a 4C-Nav.

I also understand that unlike the old harman radios where the VP3 could have nav activated the new Panasonic radios UAS radios can’t be.

As for the nav on the 2018 radios, it is a lot better than on the previous model radios. I switch back and forth between the factory nav and CarPlay. It is nice that the factory nav gives you the turns on the EVIC.

Being that there was no activate NAV button on the Dealer Mode screen I knew I had a problem. So I guess there is no way at all to add Uconnect NAV to this system? That sucks, I liked the NAV system in my '14 model. I've ran the Apple car play and Apple maps. I don't like it, but I guess it's better than nothing. I travel a lot in rural areas without cell service, so Apple maps will be no good to me then.

Why in the hell would they put a system like this in a truck and delete the NAV out?

Sounds like your truck just has an RA3 non-nav radio. You’ll have to buy the unlock code to get navigation.

Hold heat up, cool down and front defrost together for 5 seconds and the code screen will pop up.

Hit this guy up if you decide to activate your navigation!!

I know this thread may be old...but I am picking up my loaded Laramie tomorrow...with everything but navigation. It looks like the apple CarPlay works well. I am just used to having a built in NAV. So these new head units cannot just have the NAV activated? Only choice is to buy a head unit with NAV or use CarPlay?
