Negative, it all depends on sub woofer and enclosure. I have an 18 that will play cleaner and lower than most 10s in its price point.

Isn't that what I just said. Lol. It's all about how much air you can move.

This is 100% wrong. It is completely dependent of the subwoofer and the enclosure.

Either way I still would say 2 10s based on displacement.

You find me a 12 that will cycle faster than a 10 and I'll believe you. It's a bigger coil. Bigger magnet and bigger surface area. There is no way you will ever make a 12 cycle as fast or as crisp as a 10

I can easily find you 12" woofers with smaller coils and motors than 10s. Other things to take into consideration are also the strength of the spider, cone material (lighter cones vs heavier cones), as well as T/S parameters. This isn't even an argument, it is speaker basics 101. This argument is something I would hear from the 16 year old whose system hits 212dBs.

Extreme example:

Your 10" SPL sub:

NSV3 SERIES

Your 12" entry sub (smaller coil and motor):

Just for shits and giggles here is a 18" speaker that can play higher than most subwoofers. Playing higher means it can "cycle faster" because of the higher frequencies. (1200hz is 1200 times a second, 40 hz is 40 times a second).

the JL Audio 13" shallow mount will blow 2 10's away. Seriously and it only requires one cubit foot of space. This is what Im putting in my truck after hearing it in a couple other trucks with 500w on it. It comes in 2 ohm or 4 ohm I think depending on your wiring configuration
