Well.......I have 3 sets sitting in the garage. A set of Boston components that are mounted on a 5x7 plate (these were in my Explorer for about 3 months), 6 1/2" component set (Pioneers) and a set of Alpine 5.25s.

Or, I'll sell those and get 2 sets of 6x9s. I really want a nice set of 6x9s up front...........but its hard to justify when I have 3 sets of perfectly good speakers here.

I'll be honest, their stuff is overbuilt and often overlooked (due to price). You just have to shop around, there are deals to be had. Having used mostly DIY setups in the past, I wanted an easy to integrate setup that defeats the factory Alpine system, gives a fresh playing field to start from, and then builds into a very nice sound stage. This setup went above and beyond my expectations. I just need to get the final details done for the local shows next year.

Cool. You pass my test lol. I get tired of all the people that are all over jl audio and thinks its the best simply because its on a lot of shows on TV. Looks like a great setup though. I'm gonna be looking for something to replace my Alpine type x components up front. They just dont have the midbass I want

I seriously fought tooth and nail against going with a big name company for quite some time (first all one brand name system was Rockford Fosgate in my 2003 Ram, boy did I learn my lesson there...) so a few years passed and I found a great audio forum that really opened my eyes to the world of pristine sound reproduction. There are so many variables in an automobile environment, that you have to completely step back and tackle it from a different angle.

I used all home audio drivers for quite some time (Dayton audio midrange and midbass with Vifa tweeters running 3-way active on an Earthquake crossover and a DIYMA R12 subwoofer - all powered by Cadence TXA amplifiers) but finally ended up with Rainbow Germanium 6.5" components and a Focal 33A 13" subwoofer powered by Soundstream Tarantula amplifiers in my 2008 Ram. After trading it in on the 2010 R/T - I hit a wall at full force. That Alpine system is phenomenal for stock, but an absolute disaster for anyone wanting to simply upgrade the speakers. It has peaks and tweaks, and frequency cuts that almost make no sense at all. But it's what the manufacturer had to do to get the best out of the factory speakers.

The JL Audio CleanSweep with SSI Summing Interface takes 6 of the factory outputs (dash, front doors, and rear speakers), blends the signal together, flattens it out, and gives you four full range outputs to your amp(s). For someone wanting to absolutely crush the stock system (and most other setups) with excellent sound quality, this is definitely one way to do it.

How does the Clean Sweep help? I've never had a anything much better than stock, but with my new truck I want to go with quality parts. I was planning to replace all the factory speakers with components. and I thought I could build a custom sealed center console box. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, there are a few interface components available now, the CleanSweep is just one option. Are you wanting to keep the factory head unit?

Awesome! You have a few options then. The CleanSweep, Audison BitOne, Peripheral has one, Kicker even makes one now, the JBL MS-8, and AudioControl has a few interface components to really bring these systems to life!

I have: (in my RAM 1500 Crew Cab 2009) All installed myself (except custom box being made)
SONY XAV-70BT - Head Unit
Alpine PDX-5 amp (97*4 and 417*1)
Alpine SPS-400 4" in dash
Alpine SPR-69C 6*9 in all four doors
currently a MTX 4000 sub in box under back passenger seat.
Have a Alpine SWR-1243D 12" sub and having a custom box for under back passenger seat.
I have been making some dd 5.1 dvd's from SACD and DTS 5.1 CD's plus music videos.

I bought the Alpine center channel speaker cover since, well, everything you can't see is Alpine.

Will be adding back up camera and tailgate lock.
maybe HD radio and/or sirius. (can you use the stock sirius antenna with an after market sirius add on?)
