Got my Kenwood double DIN headunit last week. Ordered the recommended PAC C2R-CHYNA. Arrived today. Pulled the factory headunit again to do the install and the PAC doesn't fit. So now I don't know what to do other than cut the factory harness and start splicing. Doesn't really matter to me, I'll do it. Hell with reinstalling the factory radio if I sell/trade the truck in the future. I just want to get the new headunit in. I'm just not sure what wires go to what. I know the speaker wires, but the other wires have me confused.

Factory:

I know the speaker wires. The yellow w/red stripe power. Black w/red stripe ground. What are the two white wires next to the yellow?

Kenwood harness:

Black to black. Where does the yellow and red go? Both to the yellow w/red stripe?

Kenwood harness:

No idea where any of the labeled wires go

This is a non-Alpine system. No amp. No steering wheel control.

Can someone please help?

Might be illumination or info conectivity. I would also recomend getting the proper canbus harness made my install a breeze.

Where can I get one and what part number is it? I thought I had the proper harness with the PAC. It's the one recommended in every other thread regarding wiring a radio.

From what I can find, the two white wires are pos/neg for CAN IHS. What is CAN IHS?

I ordered the PAC C2R-CHYNA which is supposed to be the same thing but for vehicles without the factory amp. Are the plugs different? Mine doesn't fit, that's all I know and I'm not spending $100 on a wiring harness for an f'ing radio. I'll cut and splice before I do that. It was hard enough to fork over $50 for the one I got that I have to send back now. All it should be is a plug and some wires. I don't really understand how it can be worth $100 or even $50. If I could figure out the female plug needed, I'd get just that and add my own wires and make my own harness.

Ok, so far it's black to black, yellow to yellow, and red from the Kenwood harness to the fuse box, something that's powered by the ignition.

Still trying to figure out what the two white wires are for next to the yellow and what to do with them.

Ok the one you have is for a 2008 per PAC's website. That harness connector looks like it is to big. I am also working on finding the thread with a diagram in it but not having much luck.

Yeah, if I can find the right one for about $50 I might get it but no way I'll pay $100 for a ten cent plastic connector and a few feet worth of wire. Otherwise I'm splicing. I just need to find out what the CAN IHS is and what to do with those wires.

Yeah, got that but doesn't tell me what the CAN IHS is so I can figure out what to do with those wires if I start cutting into the harness.

Much as I hated to, I just ordered the PAC C2R-CHY4 . Good thing at least is I ordered it from Crutchfield and they gave it to me for 50% off. So $50 and free shipping and I'll have it Thursday so I guess that's not too bad. Just hope it works.

It will, I don't have anything fancy on my truck except for EVIC and a trailer brake. Way to get a good price.
