I installed a Pioneer AVH-280BT in my Ram to replace the stock low end radio. I tapped into my backup camera signal wires and ran that RCA cable to my radio and the picture was pretty distorted. Thinking it was a poor connection due to tapping into the signal wires, I got an aftermarket camera and ran a dedicated RCA from camera to the radio. Picture was okay with the truck off, HORRIBLE with it turned on.

I used the Metra 95-6518B installation kit for the wiring. My truck is the 6.7 Cummins. Is it possible that my ground wire isn't substantial enough and I am getting some electrical noise from the diesel engine? I am thinking about supplementing the ground wire connection by adding another ground wire to tie in.

Am I just wasting my time here, or is it plausible that the ground wire isn't enough?

There isn't a metra wiring harness that has that pre wired? Aside from that, I would change your camera settings in the pioneer. There should be battery, polarity and maybe something else under camera and ntsc and pal under video setting. Fiddle with that before re wiring.
