I just recently jumped into the QI wireless charging for my Note 3. I bought the official Samsung charging cover and a RAV Power charger. I planned on using this at work since I'm constantly on the phone and never seem to be able to keep it plugged in. Been using it for a few days and it's great. I leave work and my phone is fully charged for the evening.

I then thought about doing something in the truck. The charger fits great in the center console front storage cubby and is about the same size as my Note 3. The white circle is rubber so it holds the phone from sliding around. I haven't done a panic stop to see how well it holds, but it didn't go anywhere with my normal aggressive driving. It can't go backwards but there is some room for it to go forwards in a sudden stop. I think I'm going to order another one and hard wire it for a cleaner look, this one is just plugged into the 120V outlet.

I thought about it but didn't keep my note 3 long enough to try. I have been trying different head units and phones to get mirrorlink to work.

I have my wireless charger in the same spot for my nexus 5 and 6. I used two rubber bands around the charger and that keeps my phone from sliding off the charger. I havent yet, but someday i will replace the rubber bands with some clear silicone.

Pretty cool. I wouldn't mind sticking one of those in my truck. Use my phone to play itunes whenever i'm not listening to XM

I just ordered the one below today for the truck. It will get wired in so no cords are visable and it doesn't tie up my 120V outlet. This one's all black and should blend in a little better.

I also thought about something like this for a custom install but don't have the time or energy. LOL. It would be cool to install under the rubber insert if there's enough clearance...

Agreed.

I'd love to see a pic of the finished thing. Anything that turns my truck into more of a living space is always something I geek out about because I spend so much time in it.

And yea that second link...I'd be WAY too lazy to do that lol

I got it wired up to a USB plug under the console, but had to go back to the original AC adapter powered from the inverter. I had an annoying high pitch buzz from the device itself when powered from the USB plug. Still doesn't look too bad with the AC adapter. The cords are all tucked into the dash so you don't see much of them.

Here's what I used: Amazon.com: iXCC ® Dual USB 4.8 Amp (24 Watt) SMART Universal High Capacity [High Power] [Small Size] FAST Car charger with Exclusive ChargeWise (tm) Technology, for Apple iPhone 4/4s/5s/ 5c/ 5/ 6/ 6 Plus; iPad Air/Air 2, iPad Air mini/mini 3; Samsun Wired it up to a 12V outlet I had laying around, tapped into the console 12V power port. I also ran an extension to the back seat for charging phones, ipad, etc back there, so it wasn't a lost cause.

Also went back to the original RAV Power charging pad since it holds the phone better with the rubber surface. The smaller, all black one is pretty slick, but works well on my desk at work.

That looks great! Cool idea running it through to the rear of the cab also. Nice mod, looks like a really useful addition :happy107:
