Nice. I ran the old Utopia set years ago. Can't remember if it was the TN51 or 52 tweeter, I think it was the 52. That was the first set of speakers that I ran and fell absolutely in love with it. I had them in a Toyota 4Runner with W7's in the back. Now I see the set come on eBay every now in then for crazy money.

The 50 series tweeters have only been part of the K2 or KRX sets for years. All Utopias have had TBe's for quite some time.

That's why I said quite some time. That's a pretty old set. I bet they still sound great though.

I wish I had kept all the sets I had. Utopia Be 3 ways, KRX3's, several K2P sets and several other lines along the way. I'm sponsored by Orca design now though so I get Focal, Illusion and Mosconi for crazy prices. My comp system next year will be all Illusion Carbon drivers.

Still jealous lol I just want to hear some of these. I have heard higher end main stream stuff but I get the feeling that you two have installs that would blow away what I've gotten to hear.

After hearing Unbroken's sound in the R/T, I was speechless... It was absolutely stunning.

What depth are you guys able to fit in the doors with the 8" or you modding it and fiberglassing something better? I would love to put my pair of Scan Illuminators in, but the depth is too crazy.

I'm using an Illusion Audio Carbon C8. It has an inverted motor structure so they're pretty shallow.

I'm running the updated CDT ES Golds that are 3.5" deep and I had to use a baffle. Only gives me about a 1/4" to the door before it hits.

How much do you have to tame those so xmax isn't a factor?

Considering they are seeing 450 watts each... I had to attenuate the little beasts to -10db on the ole' Helix DSP. Blends perfectly well, gives me the cone area of an 8" without modifying my doors. :) In measuring they are playing very well down to 50-60hz with a nice roll off. I would probably say the distance to the door and the surround is probably closer to 5/16". I did have to trim the speaker grill on the doors. It had these ribs along the face of the backside of the grill. Just to play it safe!

If anyone is looking for a good 6x9, you can't beat the CDT Golds.

Something else worth doing and I did a mini write-up on the Cummins forum is get rid of those cheap plastic clips on the outside of the door. Did it on my 2013 and again on my 2014. I drilled mine out and used nut zerts along 8-32 black machine security screws. Looks factory and the door is solid. This time around I went with a bigger screw, I think they were 1/4-20 button heads.

In what case would baffles need to be used?? Or what is the purpose of them?

Needed two space it out from the back window bracket....more or less a spacer, some would call them baffles. :)
