2017 (& 2018?) Confirmed Mirror & header harness notes

Confirmed here ...
Just wanted to confirm part number and settings for anyone looking to add SMART BEAM (automatic high beams). I have a '17 2500, so my mics are in the headliner and not in the mirror.

The correct part number for upgrading the auto dim mirror to SmartBeam (AHBM) in a '17 or newer Ram (no mics in mirror) is

Mirror itself takes all of 10 minutes to install.

Smartbeam Mirror will also need a new cover (1YW14DX9AC Lower Cover). I used the 5 settings for SB listed in post #1 shown under "Auto High Beams". Also did the settings for the "DRL's" and "Global Down". All work like a charm.

...... [Mpg2 edits] .....
Mirrors w/o Mics:
- 2017 PN: 68295862AA (Assist/911/UConnect "Connected" AutoDim w/SmartBeam)
- 2017 PN: 68293669AA (Assist/911/UConnect "Connected" AutoDim)

-2018 PN: 68342284AA (Assist/SoS/UConnect "Connected" AutoDim w/SmartBeam)
- 2018 PN: 68342283AA (Assist/SoS/UConnect "Connected" AutoDim)

Harnesses:
- 2017 PN: 68309102AA (autodim/upgraded mirror w/Cab Lts. For 2500/3500= NO Humid. Sensor)

- 2017 PN: xxxxxxx (autodim/upgraded mirror. For 1500 w/ATC & Humid. Sensor)

- 2017 PN: xxxxxxx (autodim/upgraded mirror. For 1500 w/MTC NO Humid. Sensor)

- 2018 PN: 68343002AA (autodim/upgraded mirror. For 1500 w/ATC & Humid. Sensor & Rain Sensor)

- 2018 PN: 68343004AA (autodim/upgraded mirror. For 1500 w/ATC & Humid. Sensor... w/o Rain Sensor! )

17 AutoDim RearView Mirror reference

Guys, I'd like to pickup a rearview mirror with autodim and smart beam, but not Uconnect. I already have the microphones in my truck because it came with Uconnect and would rather not add additional microphones on a mirror. Would any of you guys know if this mirror that shows it's for the 3500 work on a '17 1500? P/N: 68295863AA

I'm not 100% sure about that pn (looks right on Quirk parts' site), but if it fits one ram model of a particular year, it should be ok for other models within the same year. The only difference in 2017 (vs 13-16) as you have discovered is the lack of mics in the mirror. I would think you are fine.

Stay away from other FCA brands of mirrors if you can't verify its the same pn as in a Ram. Connectors can sometimes be different.

Post a picture of it if you order one.

I know the 2017+ trucks have microphones in the headliner and not the mirror, but can I use a 2016 or earlier smartbeam mirror in my 17 truck?

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I used a 13-16 harness on my 17 auto dimming mirror with no mics. The pinout is the same just the 2017 has less wires.

I made some progress on Activating the auto high beams in my 2015 Ram 2500. There ended up being 5-6 settings to activate it. I still have a little bit of testing to verify I have everything working correctly, but here is what I have done so far:

* (EDIT) In addition to AutoDim Rearview Mirror Setting:
NOTE: EC = ElectroChromic

..... Vehicle Config 3:
..... Interior EC Mirror Present- Set/Yes/Enabled

Change the following AHBM settings:

Vehicle Config 1:
Auto High Beam - Set/Yes/Enabled

Vehicle Config 3:
Auto Headlight Feature - Set/Yes/Enabled

Veh Config CSM1: (or "Cust.Set.Menu 1")
Auto High Beam CSM Present - Set/Yes/Enabled

ECU Config 08: LIN and Misc: (or "LIN and Misc")
Smart Beam Present (AHBM): Set/Yes/Enabled

ECU Config 13: 2014 CBC Config I / O And Feat:
Auto High Beam Module Location - ECC_AHBM

**[Need to go back and find the location of the final setting]**:
ECC_AHBM Present - Set/Yes/Enabled

With all of the above changes, the feature appears to be activated. When I push the light stalk forward I get the "Auto High Beams Enabled" message. With that said, It was still partially light out when I was testing it. I had to cover the sensor on the dash to get the auto headlights to come on. While testing, the headlights were on, but I did not get the blue bright indicator on the cluster. I am wondering if this is because it wasn't completely dark out and the camera on the back of the mirror was picking up the light?

I will try to do some more testing this weekend.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally installed the AutoDim Mirror with Auto High Beam Sensor yesterday on my 2013 Truck with the AE tool
EDIT: Use the ** AlfaOBD tool instead to avoid problems (for activating factory features yourself)
- 911/AutoDim w/AutoHighBeam Mirror: - 68096094AA (Req's Sales Code)
. . . . (AutoDim w/AutoHighBeam Covers: Upper - 1ZA39DX9AA & Lower - 1YW14DX9AC )

Only had 3 settings on mine luckily that I enabled in the following order ...

2013 Ram 1500 SLT CC
:

Vehicle Config 3:
Interior EC Mirror Present- Set/Yes/Enabled
(Enabled the AutoDim / Electro Chromatic)

Vehicle Config 1:
Auto High Beam - Set/Yes/Enabled
(Enabled AHB hw)

ECU Config 08: LIN and Misc: (or just "LIN and Misc")
Smart Beam Present (AHBM): Set/Yes/Enabled
(Enabled feature?)

--------------------------------------------------

Really hope that we can find the magic sauce to get this working on the 2014 Trucks like Rick's.

Also, would a mirror from a Jeep or Dodge car or SUV work?

One more thing... Anyone around PA(Chambersburg)/MD(Hagerstown)/WV(Martinsburg) areas have the Autoenginuity and wouldn't mind helping me out adding some codes? I plan to buy one in the near future, just not quite ready yet.

I'm not 100% sure about that pn (looks right on Quirk parts' site), but if it fits one ram model of a particular year, it should be ok for other models within the same year. The only difference in 2017 (vs 13-16) as you have discovered is the lack of mics in the mirror. I would think you are fine.

I have a question:
I just installed a autodim rear mirror without microphone and smart beam. Do I need to have the truck flashed?

If I cover up the sensor in the front it does dim, but the mirror doesn't show up in the settings of my head unit. (8.4)

Yes. It will need the sales code added before it will show the button on the radio (or the setting activated in BCM via a code tool or OBDgenie).

Vehicle Config 3:
Interior EC Mirror Present- Set
(Enabled the AutoDim / Electro Chromatic)

Edit: Here are the related sales code for 13-16 trucks, I'm not sure if these would be the same or not. Dealer can hopefully confirm it. Dealer or someone else can hopefully confirm it. First one is likely all your need.

GN5P RR View Auto Dim Mirror w/Microphone

GNZP Auto Dim Exterior Mirror

LEUP Auto Dim Exterior Passenger Mirror

LMS Auto High-Beam Headlamp Control (SmartBeam)

PS: As a reference for others, can you post a picture of the mirror and the PN for it here?

Thanks for the info!
I may have the dealer update this next time I go in for an oil change. It works fine now, so no rush.

The item number is 68102485AE

Keep in mind that the code may not show up in the dealers system for them to add on your truck.
Especially on the 14 trucks (can't activate it with the AE tool either since it can't see the setting on the 14's).

Thanks again.

For the OBDgenie, is there a particular one I may be able to get?

I plan on doing some more upgrades and it may be good to be able to do these flashes myself.

You'd have to contact them to see what they can do. The Genies are about $200 ea/per feature. They can add multiple features to one genie.

If the AutoDim code isn't available at the dealer by itself, they may be able to add the Sales code for the backup camera in the mirror. It also has AutoDim, and would work with the existing one to enable the feature (just without the display in the mirror).

No they are not. You will need the wire harness that plugs into the grey plug behind the passenger side dash end cap. I'm in the process of doing this to my 17 1500 tradesman. The harness part number is 68186009AC w/clearance lights or 68207372AB w/o clearance lights.

I have confirmed use of auto dim mirror with mics, with rear view camera in both locations. Two views of the same backup camera. One on the mirror and other on 5.0 radio screen at the same time. Also I was able to use my factory headliner harness, no new harness needed. You also will however need Mpgrimm2 reroute harness for the video feed to the radio 5.0 I’ll post pics at some point. Only way I could tell from a used 911 mirror was to pop it open to see if it had the video display interface inside. Always ask questions about these 911/assist mirrors as some or most don’t have the video interface. But they’re some out there. I’ll up date this thread with pics and data as soon as I can. Don’t jump the gun and run out to buy a 911 mirror without investigating the internal parts. So this was the basic installation for me. 1.) pop off my mirror that had rear view camera only, no mics. 2.) plug up 911/assist mirror that has rear view camera and mics. Done. Took 5 mins. Both camera and voice work perfectly. Once again I will update this thread with more info as time permits. Also this wouldn’t be possible without guidance and harness from pal MpGrimm2...This was done on a 2016 Ram 1500 and I’m uncertain about other models.
