I hear that you have to modify your sub dash to install a double DIN. Cam someone give or show me more info on what is involved in the modification??? I am done trying to get decent sound out of the stock radio and I'm not interested in going the cleansweep route...

the subdash modification is not that big of a deal. You just need to desire the new head unit enough to make you grab at least one of the following tools: Dremel, tin snips, hack saw, cut off wheel. I chose the hacksaw for nostalgic reasons.

I'm still on the edge on whether or not to put in an aftermarket hu. Can you put the factory hu back in after you cut that piece behind the dash?

yes, what you are cutting is not was supports the stock radio. JJ can verify this that as he has done it.

yes you can put it back in, there are two options for cutting, cut the top of the metal bracket and remove the screw or cut the bottom out. You also need to either cut the plastic posts between the bolt hols or cut the bottom out of the plastic housing. Either way you can put the stock radio back in. The tray will have to be modified as well because it doesnt like to stay in place once you squish a DD in the dash

Not yet. Lol. Looked at a couple Pioneers, but kinda lost interest when I realized you have to buy a separate $70 tuner for sirius sat radio. :****sweak:

and for pioneer/kenwood/jvc you have to buy an additional $50-$90 cable to hook the tuner to the head unit. Clarion is direct connect btw
