I've been reading and reading and trying to figure out if anyone has done this yet. I'm in my truck a lot for work and I want something that has blue tooth in it. I found the Pioneer AV-X4600BT and I like it. I did some figuring with some diagrams and testing. I'll do further investigation this weekend when I have some power supplies and a garage to work in.
When I took the center console apart I pulled the Media Hub out. I played around with my Mac and the only way I got the hub to connect to my phone was to plug in the "Aux" connector. So I believe that if I take the "aux" harness and jump a 12V and ground into it when I hook up the new Pioneer harness, the hub will work. Like I said, I'll know more this weekend, but I think I found out a way to use the factory USB with an aftermarket stereo.
Heres the wiring diagram that I used.
