Hey guys just wanted to ask if any of the members here that are running hid's, have experienced any problems like i have.

I installed mine last week on friday and they already went out. Im using the metal ballasts and some anti flicker things that i dont know what they're called. Just wanted to know if this is how these trucks are with hid's or if you have a setup that is working for you, i would really love to know so i can get this mess fixed. Thanks.

Sorry in advance if this is the wrong section. Figured since it had to do with electrical id put it here.

What brand?

I've got a buttload of guys running the HIDs I offer, and rarely an issue. (its electrical stuff......anyone who says they never have an issue....well, run from them, they are a bad liar!)

I need to check what brand but a year ago i was running the plastic ballasts with a relay and i had them for a couple of months untill they started going off little by little. And now i have the metal ones but without a relay and barely lasted a week. I was told to switch to the metal ones cuz the plastic ones suck but so far the plastic ones have lasted longer than these.

On my truck (2011) i had installed highs/lows/fogs in an 8000K. All in wich are non CanBus kits and have not had a single issue so far. (About a year)

A friend of mine has a shop and does all of these installs and he says these rams are one o the most finicky.

In order for them all to work he had to install a harness with a error cancelling kit, wich prevents the ecu from thinking any lights are out or different. The truck has issues reading hids from stock halogens wich would give you an indication on your dash saying lights are out. He also had to saulder in a capacitor inline with the first bulb hookup past the ballast on factory plug in to help with power and flickering.

Double check your fuse off your battery on your harness (should be atleast a 25 or 30A), and check your grounds (grounded properly) and hook ins. That may be the issue wich could be simple. If not it may come down to a capacitor or resister needed to be installed.

Im sure there are tons of styles of kits with different little tricks and twerks to all to them, but that is my 0.02 on your situation

Im running the 6k but without the relay. I'll definitely look into that man thanks alot for the input. Maybe its just something simple like you said. Its weird because my dash isnt saying anything about the lights like u mentioned.

Yah you bet.

Could be something simple but also could be the set-up. Ive had hids on all my vehicles and by far this one is the most finicky for an install.

Like i said. Start at your battery connection -> fuses -> connectors -> grounds..

Could come down to a capacitor or resistor needing to be spliced in.

Hope any of this helps and you can get it figured out!

I had a similar issue with my HIDs. The ballast are digital and I have the Anit-flickering/ error eliminators as well. My drivers headlight started crapping out and then it died about 2 weeks after install. Trial and error, it was the ballast. Replaced it and it began hesitating to power up right away. It seemed to happen when I turned the truck on. I just turned off the auto head lamps and its been fine since. Maybe not be the best solution.. but it works for me. I didn't know about the can-bus friendly HIDs before I bought mine, and I'm sure I can find something dumb to do with the $$ it would cost to buy the correct ones.
