You can cut the wires ( leave some for future install of other cameras if desired ) then you can splice to the wires still in the connector .
To remove the existing wires there should be a slide lock on the side of the connector, just push it in with a screw driver , be careful when you do this all the sockets become loose , thin a tiny TINY tiny flat tip inserted from the top (radio side ) and gently tug on the wire .

XXXXXX. Are you sure you are at the correct wires ? XXXXXTo make double sure , look @t the back of the radio , 31 is clearly marked on the radio side .XXXXXX. I did not have wires there on my 1500 ST. , SOME do have existing wires .... PLEASE EVERYONE CHECK OUT MPGRIMM2 s POST ##10 XXXXXX THE OEM KIT INSTRUCTIONS ARE PRETTY GOOD ! BUT if you find yourself reading a step more than twice to fully understand it , check out post # 10 or read through the 400 post here .

Brows through the thread , you find a bunch of jargon about my gridlines issues , for the most part this kit is easy to install ! Several , to include myself , istalled it correctly the first time with no issues ( my issues wer Software related only )
Good luck! PM me if you have Qs

Thanks R.L.K. Finally got the wires out and its all back together. It would be helpful if the instructions gave a hi-res drawing of the connector and where to insert the depopulate tool. Once I figured that out, it is very simple to do. An hour to remove three wires...

The instructions are written for Fatory trained RAM techs , I do this kinda stuff all the time at wk and I had issues similar to yours . Good job ! Have you had the XAC FLASHED @ THE DEALER YET ?

Well, the fun continues... Turns out the drawing of the connector at the radio in the instructions is reversed. It clearly shows the radio side of the connector and 31, 32, 33 at the top right. I had wires there, as the instructions said may be the case, removed them, inserted new wires for the cam there and have no power at radio. Finally looked at the back of the radio for the "31", found that, inserted wires from camera harness in the correct slots this time. However, since I removed wires from 1, 2, 3 and did not pay attention to which colored wire went where, I'm not sure where they go. Pretty sure gray wire was in slot 3 and I guessed at the blue ones. Now I don't have power at the radio and I don't see a fuse labeled as radio and the back up cam fuse is fine. Any ides are much appreciated !

Or go to post 10 Mpgrimm2 has a good interpretation of the C-1 CONNECTOR.

See post 442 , sorry buddy but I tried . These instructions are a bit confusing @ a few diff places ..

For anyone else installing this kit +++++ Read understand and ( I know it's a lot ) review the issues others have had within this thread (, to include myself ) have had !++++++ This will save you a lot of heartache ... ( ×××× and defiantly refer to Mpgrimm2 s post # 10 ! ! ! ! ×××)

This is an easy & good kit P/N 82214240 -001 unfortunately the text is written for TRAINED RAM TECHS .
THE HARNESS CONNECTION / MEMBER( CUYLERTECH ) IS currently building a harness that will have far less confusing texts and easier to install !
Patients my friends give Cuyler Tech time to finish...
I love my back up cam / gridlines and all !
If you do not get grid lines , update the software in your radio @ www.driveuconnect.com

Soon CuylerTech / the Harness Connection will have a better alternative to the OEM add on kit

From post 422 a page or 2 back. Same ****uation.

If it was pins 1-3 that you swapped with 31 - 33. Here are the colors that are supposed to be there...
Pin # / ID# / Color / Description
1 D75 __ GY __ CAN C (+)
2 D177 _ DB __ CAN IHS (+)
3 R41 __ LB/VT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SIGNAL

Hopefully it didn't do anything too bad to the Radio, Can Bus, or BCM.
May try disconnecting the battery for a while, reconnecting, and seeing if it does anything. RLK had his screen go blank, disconnected Battery for 8 hrs, and it came back up.

Lately I've helped a couple guys via PM to install the RA2 5.0 from their RA1 with backup cam in the mirror .

Obviously they needed a microphone option . Me not knowing any better option , i encouraged them to remove the video capable mirror( sale it to offset $$ )and install a mirror with microphones and install the required harness .
I also suggested to use the wires and pins from the harness they removed going to their previous mirror , to make a harness to reroute the camera wires to the radios C-1 connector 31, 32 , 33 , I haven't heard back from them , I'm assuming it worked out ... what say you sir ?

Thanks RLK and Mpgrimm2. So, I have some diagnostics to do. I put the wires back in slots 1, 2, 3 and have 31, 32, 33 where they need to go. My radio works again (thankfully!) but just have the blue screen in reverse and tailgate will not lock. Will double-check all and try again.

Hmm mm , sounds like your 10 amp fuse is blown in the PDC , or tailgate disconnect is not seated

This earlier sketch of mine (also see post 10) has the lock wires also at the tailgate connector. May help.
Almost tossed it earlier today.

#1 check your 10 amp fuse in the PDC

#2 Verify your black ground near the PDC Is < .1ohm

#3 Verify the tailgate disconnect is seated properly

#4 verify the taigate harness inside the tailgate is properly connected.

#5 make sure the radio harness connector you populated is correct / has the same color 3 wires in same place on both sides male & female

You may have two of the above ...
