@ Mpgrimm2, with the 5th wheel
Pre package does he have the cargo cam prewired ? Remember the guy who had 31,32&33 @ the C1 going to the CHSML cam @ the 3rd brake Light, he was a 2500 Ram , he cut & spliced his tailgate cam OEM kit harness into the C1 connector to achieve back up cam . This may be the case here , I just wonder if that guy had the 5th wheel prep package ?

I can see what the 5500 has for wiring once it gets delivered. I ordered it with the 5th wheel prep.

I can rarely, if ever, see actual wiring diagrams for the CHMSL Camera on TechAuthority, but
- I can verify that, per TechAuthority diagrams, he should have the 3 wires for the tailgate camera from the back of the radio (C1) down to the connector near the brake pedal (i322) which goes down to the Front Chassis/Cab Body Connector (C322) behind the left front wheel well cover. Unfortunately, it looks like it stops their and like LoveRacing1988, he is missing the wires going back to the tailgate connector (i550).
5 wires + Gnd, missing.

@CuylerTech, did you see my previous post about the missing chassis harness?

Sorry man, you are missing the 6 wires from the tailgate connector forward to the cab connector behind the left front wheel, and that's all. You were probably looking at the 8 wires in the tailgate wearout extension on some of the 2500's.
Your wiring diagram almost exactly matched MTGTS's 2500 which I updated it slightly with your info (minus full vin).

Here is the link again for you to see what you are missing:
2014 Ram 2500 MTGTS Existing Camera Wiring - Partial for Forum.png

Here's a complete schematic for comparison:
2013 Ram1500 Laramie V8 Crew OEM Camera Schematic.pdf

You would have been a perfect candidate for Jeepguy1980's harness if he was still around. Perhaps CuylerTech would be willing to make you a chassis harness using a 20awg 5 conductor cable + 5.5ft Gnd wire. If you have a 140" WB truck, I know the length (just under 17ft) ...
JpGuy Camera Harness Notes - partial.jpg
(I was mid process on diagramming it out with parts but never researched the part number for the 6 Female pins (sockets) at the i550 Tailgate connector. Also see HERE for more original info before the thread was locked).

After reading this. I'm not sure what I need to look for lol. Sorry, I get lost in this stuff pretty easily. Do I need to see how many wires I have after the extension?

Have you read through the links on Post 10 yet?

See Post 25 for pictures of the i550 Tailgate Connector (shows only 2 wires, and the extension).
If you have the extension, look at both cables that plug into it. If you see only 2 wires at pins 7 & 8, especially going forward to the Cab, then you are missing the camera wiring (pins 1-6).

If you want to, I can PM you my phone number and we can talk this weekend about it and clear up any confusion. RLK is usually willing to talk via phone also.

Skeeter, that confirms it, you are missing the camera wires going forward to the cab (only 2 lock wires in that picture).

So I would need to take these two wires out and put them in the new cable?

Sort of. . more or less... But the extension makes it tricky. Do you have the entire camera kit and harness yet?

See post 25 for pictures...
http://www.ramforum.com/showthread.php?p=978557

Because the new harness has female pins (truck side going forward had 2 male pins), you actually need to take out the 2 female lock pins from the extension or move the new harness' 6 camera wires over to the extension. Your best bet is probably pulling the extension out and combining it with the new harness outside of the truck before starting. The difficult can be with getting the connectors apart without breaking anything.

Edit: not sure why I have this PDF or how I came across it but I think it may be the i550 connector instruction sheet... May be a good reference for getting the connector apart.

I'll pull it out tomorrow and see if I can figure something out and match up with the pics. There was an extra cable that came in the kit but not sure what it was for. I'll grab a pic of it tomorrow

That is GREAT info on that connector and yes that is the i550 ! Located below the tailgate just inside and under the bed for the backup cam Long body harness to connect to the harness inside the tailgate.
This info is invaluable, for many here have destroyed this connector trying to disassemble and populate .
Also this info can be used similarly to many other connectors on the truck as well . Fortunately I've delt with this type of stuff over the years and I had no issues , but I have done my share of destroying connectors in the past ...

I have reading the posts on this subject and they are a great help, but I recently purchased a complete tailgate assembly from a friend who has a 2013 1500 that has the backup camera and power lock in the tailgate. I have every thing from the handle to the harness that clips into the back of the bed. I have a 2009 1500 crew cab with the 730n RER radio with nav and need to see if there is any additional harnesses that I might need. My truck did not have a lock or camera in the tailgate originally. I am attaching photos of what I purchased. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do know that I will have to have the truck flashed to work once everything is installed. I am mainly concerned about what additional harnesses I may need and the part numbers.

Good luck , I'm not so sure this will work for you , backup cam wise .
Pretty sure the 13+ trucks are different from your 09 ... the camera itself may work if wired properly ...

If this is proven true , you could sale the handle with camera assy here in the classifieds !
