You can get cheaper head units. I bought the dnx893s which is Kenwoods top newest model. usually sells for $1100 but I talked the guy down at stereo shop tp $925. But like I said there are cheaper stereos to do this with. Depends what you want, the best or just different lol

Nice write-up 57buick. I am looking to replace my 8.4 with the Scosche Bezel and you happened to pick the same HU I am wanting to get as well. What was holding me back was if it was going to look odd going from the 8.4 screen size to a Double Din....you have definitely demonstrated that it will look great! Thanks!

Trout - I know you have high end stuff - May want to wait for the mechless new Alpine 9" to come out. MSRP is much less at 2k. Still high, but also 1k cheaper than before.

I looked seriously at the Alpine x009 for our trucks. The large 9" screen is certainly nice but I played with one in person and it had a lot of lag which was annoying when touching thru stuff. I also didn't like the GPS screen and how it functioned. and if it matters to you no androidAuto support

These were my biggest gripes. I know CarPlay/Android Auto is coming in the new model, I would imagine improved processor as well.

Hmmm, you've definitely piqued my interest. I'll have to do some googling and see what I can find out about it.
