No brake lights

Concerned, 2012 1500 Lonestar, 5.7. I've contacted two dealers, and the Chrysler customer service. My brake lights do not work unless the ignition is on. Customer service from Chrysler says refer to dealer, dealer says that the 2012 is done that way. First time I heard something like that. My Gut says it's not right, any help out there? PM if you want. BTW, i like this site

Both of my 2010s did this. It may have been a 09-12 thing. I believe all the 13 and ups show brake lights any time
