i bought this truck a month ago and the previous owner had HID's installed. Yes they are the infamous Spyder light fixtures. Anyway my low beam on the drivers side stopped working the night before last. Talked to Joe from Spyder and he said it's a H1 bulb. But when I pulled the whole fixture out and pulled the bulb out it's part of the darn harness. I should have taken a pic when I had it out!
But it's a weird looking bulb long skinny with a wire running parallel to it going into the tip of the bulb.
Any advise on what I should do would be awesome.
This **** is all Greek to me.

Sounds like an HID bulb to me! You need to get a picture of it and post it up! Retro can look at it and probably get you what you need.

you have HIDs...........so its an HID bulb. Not a standard halogen bulb.

And, to make it more fun, it might not be the bulb. Could be the ballast. Or wiring.

Get ready to have some fun!

Start swapping parts. move bulb from one light to the other. Move ballasts, see what follows.

It has been acting up since I got the truck. Most of the time on, but occasionally off. Then the other night it went sort of yellow and dim. Then yesterday morning it was out completely.
When I get a chance I'll pull it apart again. I'm suppose to be working right now.
I guess my fog lights will be doing double duty till I get this solved.
I can't even put the OEM ones back in for now I'm guessing.

OEMs will pop right in. Assuming you have your bulbs.........no biggy.

Just unplug these things, pop your stockers in.

Now I find out that they came from Pro Tuning Lab. Joe from Spyder says they don't sell HID's.
I was checking Pro's website and they have a sale on lights right and they don't look like a bad price.
May I should just buy a new set. What are your thoughts?

I'd say no.......they aren't anything to write home about

HIDs aren't the best in them........but it depends on your budget bud.

The lights aren't the issue here (honestly), its the HID kit.

Pull the HIDs off, go to Autozone and get a set of H1 bulbs, and pop 'em in.

those are HIDs.

If they went yellow and ****......it more than likely was a bulb.

We sell them for $40 a set (bulbs only).

Do you have a picture of the set you sell. Are they all wired together?
I'd have to take a better look when I get time. Don't know enough about this stuff. It's a little intimidating for me.
I have the OEM lights and fixtures, but I'm wondering if the person that installed these had to cut into the OEM wiring harness to install these ones?
Assuming budget isn't an issue, what would you recommend? I really like the way these things look.

What exact pics?

Just the bulbs?

Budget isn't an issue? ****, top dog that thing - swap out the spyders, skip the 09-12s, go to '13s with FXRs. Just under $1380 plug shipping to Canada, and I'll be able to see your beam down here in St Louis MO.

Would I not be wise to just order the $40.00 kit to fix mine?
Dunno, just wondering.

Hope you get them up and running. Headlight issues are the worst!
I have ran a few different types of HID's and other fixtures over the years and my friends have ran all the others too...to be honest...the aftermarket kits always have SOMETHING go wrong....wether it be lights going out randomly, turning yellow, flashing, getting condensation in the lenses due to improper sealing, other electrical demons showing up, or looking rather too futuristic and taking away from the class of the vehicle. The problem is when you start lifting these trucks, your light output tends to disappear lol. Now the only thing I do is buy Platinum factory replacement bulbs in the factory housing/ fixture and the output is great, the light color is BRIGHT white, and they never go out. Just my opinions of course
Best of luck!
