I have a 2016 Ram Laramie with the Alpine system in it. Under the back seat is a DVC 8" 2Ohm sub. I replaced the factory sub with a Rockford Fosgate version and was going to add an amp and leave it as that. Now I've changed my mind again. For the moment anyway lol. I think I want to go with either two 10's, or a 12, maybe two 12's under the back seat. So my question is this. The factory uses a 2 Ohm setup there. if I was going to use one 12 it's simple. DVC 2 Ohm sub. If I go with two 12's, do I need 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm subs? I would be taking the factory wires and running them into left and right inputs on an LC2i, from there to an amp, and so forth

You can do both. It's how you wire them that will make the ohm load.

Single voice coil would be easier to wire. But its not difficult to do a DVC.

whether you use 2 or 4 ohm voice coil subs depends more on the amp your using.
If the sub amp has a 2 ohm mono output, then use the 4 ohm subs wired in parallel.

You need to plan for the type of amp you are going to get. 1st pick out an amp, then pic out the subs to match the impedance that the amp can handle. Remember to match RMS power of the subs to the RMS power of the amp. if you are using two 200watt RMS subs make sure the amp is rated at 400watts RMS.

You need to figure out what subs you want to run, then choose an amp that matches them.

We can't help you till you at least tell us what sub you want to run, ie 10, 12?

yea, if you are adding an amp, than the 2 ohm system that the alpine runs on is not relevant. Choose your sub or subs and find an amp to match

You need two svc 4 ohm subs or two dvc 2 ohm subs to wire it to a 2 ohm final load. Subs should be 250-300 watts rms each.
