Anyone know how to fix an outlet inside the truck? I looked at the fuses and they seem fine, at least I believe it is. I put an outlet checker on it and says ground is open. I have a the 2013 Sport package.

Remove 115v outlet cover?

I trying to remove the cover as to fix the loose ground wire. Thank you for any help. I see the slot on the top and figure a flathead and pop but dont want to assume.

Have you tried taking off the center stack and checking the wires/plug in the back of it?

As stated if you remove the center stack you can check the connector that attaches to the outlet. The actual inverter that supplies the power to the outlet is mounted to the bottom of your passenger seat. Might be a good idea to check the wiring there as well.

Yes. The entire silver/gold part with radio/ac controls and vents. Check the first few posts of the 8.4 diy conversion thread if you need help removing it.

No good. Pop the control center off or console whatever you want to call it. The wiring looks fine there. Then I looked at the power inverter underneath the passenger seat everything looks good there too. I am unsure what else it could possibly be.

If you have a multimeter you could try checking the resistance on the plug itself and all the wiring, assuming you can get to the end of each section of wire.

If you've got an open its probably the inverter or its wiring. Being under passenger seat the wires can get yanked when passenger goes nuts with seat slide--like if you have a kid, or 'S' for brains rambunctious buddy.

You are saying "the wiring looks fine" are you actually testing anything though? Grab your voltmeter and first test the voltage across the hot and the neutral, then test hot to ground, they should read the same, if hot to ground does not then it is indeed an open ground. Now go to the inverter side and test the same thing.

Is it important that I get power still? Like I can power a 30 inch blade house fan?

If it is just a dropped ground then yes, you would still likely get 120v out of the neutral and hot, I'm going to bet the fan doesn't have a ground on the plug.

The ground is supposed to be open. There is no terminal inside of that hole. The only reason the ground pin is there is so you can plug in 3-prong plugs without an adapter.

Curious as to why you think your outlet is bad. It's powering the fan when you plug it in right? What is not working when you plug it in ?

I tried plugging a 3 prong fan into it and no good but a 2 prong worked. If the ground is suppose to be open I will stop trippen hehe.

If it was a 3 prong it's probably a larger one. The outlet provides very little power and is really only intended for things like laptops. The fan probably drew too much current and tripped the breaker.

You are probably right, I didn't realize the inverter under the seat was so tiny until I seen it. At least I know how to rip my radio out if needed lol.
