I finally finished my dual battery setup. If I had all parts at start this would have taken me one full day, maybe two if I really went slow. I ended up waiting for the terminals and it took a while to get the cables made. I'll be doing a DIY for this eventually. I did this to have a rescue battery and to have some flexibility with other projects. This system allows you to use either the main battery, aux battery(red light) or both(green light). The stock alternator charges both batteries just fine but I will be upgrading to a 270 amp soon.
Parts used:
-Dual Battery tray from 2011 RAM 2500 part#55372563AB (Cost varies but around $90)
-PAINLESS PERFORMANCE Dual Battery weather proof kit part#40103 ($200)
-AUX battery is a DEKA. American made equivalent to Odyssey but half the cost and has both top and side posts.($165)
-Stinger terminals ($151)
-About 9' of 1AWG cable ($65)
Yes, they are cheaper ways to do this but this is a high quality, durable setup.
