I have a pretty base 2012 Ram Express Crew Cab. It has the generic radio in in, not the alpine or anything like that. I have a Kicker ZX700.5 amp that I am going to install along with Kicker 6x9s in the doors and Kicker 3.5s in the dash, and a single Kicker 10 under the rear seat.

Anyway, my question is does this OEM system have external amps or can I connect the amp into the output wiring directly behind the radio in the dash? I don't really want to run new wiring to each individual speaker but I suppose I can if I have to.

Thanks!

You will need a LOC and running wires to the factory locations will be easier than trying to hack into the factory wiring behind the HU. You may want to install the LOC and low end amp and sub, and see how it sounds having the amplified sub, and factory powered highs. Then add power if that isn't enough.

I used this, until I bought a new HU.

welcome to RF. You are going to need a 4 channel LOC which means tapping into a lot of wires behind the radio. I agree to run new wires as it will already be a mess behind the radio.

With just having the base stereo i would look into an aftermarket deck. Would save a lot of hassle and sound better.

exactly....factory radios stink as far as reproducing adequate sound.
