So when the switch is on auto, the signals work in park. But switch to drive and they shut off. While in drive I can turn the headlight switch to on (not auto) and the signals work. Any ideas??? Maybe the headlight switch?

sounds sort of like a wiring or ground issue. Does this vehicle have Daytime Running Lights?

If you haven't made any lighting/wiring changes, there may be a problem with the lighting controller. The lights are acting up when the DRLs would be "On"
