Is there any way to make the sub louder than it is with the alpine set up. the stock sub is nice. I thought about changing it to a better brand but the amps will still be the same. im not real good with audio so im just curios. if any one has an idea please let me know.

If you just want to make it louder...upgrade the amp. Are you running the OEM head unit?

Matt stuffed his box with polyfill.

I replaced mine. :D

As for the poly fill, it won't make the woofer louder, but it will make the tone deeper which is what you want for a bass producing speaker. And you can go to an audio shop and pay through the nose for poly fill blankets that allow you wrap the woofer, or you can go to Walmart and buy a bag or two of synthetic pillow filling material from the crafts area of the store.

You will then unbolt the woofer from the plastic box and either wrap the woofer with the poly fill or *** some of it inside the box. Either way will work.

What you're actually doing is tricking the woofer into thinking that there is more air in the box than there actually is. There is some physics involved, but that's the easiest way I can describe it without getting out my calculator and decibels equations. :/

You can amp the factory system easy enough and see a noticeable gain overall. Now, you can't throw a lot of power at them, but you can increase the RMS by about 25w and get away with it without a lot of clipping.

yes I stuffed the box and it does sound better but granted its no big boomer. 2 reasons its only an 8" dual voice coil sub and its not alot of power.

What I'd like to do if I had the money is replace all the speakers with better and just use a better amp to power them. I have replaced the doors aleady. I think a 10" sub would be perfect for good bass and not overpowering for a small space.

Ya I like that I would just like to use the stock box. I can find a good 8" sub just I don't think it would be louder with just the sub swap

you would have to swap the amp. I noticed a drop in overall power on the doors replacing them. RMS was 50 watts on the new ones I would figure double what was there.

there is a bolt on the backside of the sub box holding it in. You have to take the sub box out to take the speaker out. Stupid design. Also you need to put the bolt back or you'll have to plug the hole in the enclousure.

I definitely feel it more. The actual sub box its self sucks. I think most of the bass is lost in a vibrating box. Its plastic so what would you expect LOL. I will like the stock setup and I got better mods I want to spend my $$$ on lol

I wonder if it would be worth it to keep the components the same and just build a better box.

I hope this isn't off topic, but seeing as how the system already has an amp, would I be able to add a separate amp for just the sub? Local audio shop has a box they say will fit, and it holds two 10's or 2 12's. Said they would run line level converters and an amp for the sub. Would this work, or are they full of crap?
